Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a severe deficiency in service, unfair trade practice, and the delivery of hazardous, unfit-for-consumption food by the aforementioned opposite parties, compounded by an appalling lack of customer support.
On August 19, 2026, I placed an order via the Swiggy platform at approximately 3:36 AM, which was delivered to me at 4:14 AM. The order included a "Classic Stuffed Garlic Bread" among other items.
Upon receiving the order, I consumed a piece of the garlic bread, only to immediately realize that the item was completely infested with white and grey fungus/mold. Shortly after unknowingly consuming the contaminated piece, I suffered from acute food poisoning symptoms, specifically severe vomiting and physical distress.
I immediately raised a complaint with Swiggy’s customer support via their in-app chat, providing clear photographic evidence of the fungus-infested food. Instead of addressing this critical health and safety hazard, Swiggy's response was grossly negligent and dismissive:
This incident represents a gross violation of fundamental food safety standards (FSSAI guidelines) by the restaurant, and a complete failure in corporate responsibility and quality control by the aggregator platform (Swiggy).
Relief Sought:
Due to the physical trauma, health risks, mental agony, and the utterly apathetic response from the aggregator, I am seeking the following relief:
Evidence Attached:
I expect a prompt acknowledgment of this complaint and immediate action within the next 7 days, failing which I will escalate this matter legally through the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and file a formal FIR for endangering human life.
Sincerely,
Tanishq Singh

I immediately raised a complaint with Swiggy’s customer support via their in-app chat, providing clear photographic evidence of the fungus-infested food. Instead of addressing this critical health and safety hazard, Swiggy's response was grossly negligent and dismissive:
- Swiggy attempted to entirely absolve itself of responsibility, stating the liability lies solely with the restaurant.
- The support agents, including an executive named "Yogender," repeatedly offered a mere ₹65 discount coupon (Code: SWIGGYLOVE-OYQSEC) valid for 6 days as an "apology" for delivering toxic food.
- Despite my explicit notification that I had consumed the fungus and vomited, the agent callously stated that after "a lot of back and forth, this is the best possible solution we can provide you right now," blatantly refusing to even issue a basic refund for the contaminated ₹506 order.
- Immediate Refund: A complete refund of the original order amount (₹506.00).
- Compensation: An amount of ₹50,000 for the physical suffering, mental agony, potential medical expenses, and the severe deficiency in grievance redressal demonstrated by Swiggy.
- Regulatory Action: Strict penal action and an FSSAI inspection against the restaurant outlet to ensure no other consumer's health is put at risk.
Evidence Attached:
- Clear photographic evidence of the fungus-infested food.
- Copies of the order receipts detailing the transaction and restaurant information.
- Complete screenshots of the chat interaction with Swiggy Support demonstrating their refusal to adequately resolve the issue.
I expect a prompt acknowledgment of this complaint and immediate action within the next 7 days, failing which I will escalate this matter legally through the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and file a formal FIR for endangering human life.
Sincerely,
Tanishq Singh
