I had a very disappointing experience at the KFC outlet in Sahakar Nagar, particularly because of the way a crew member named Rishad handled our concern.
We were placing our order through the self-ordering machine and faced several difficulties. Rishad approached us and helped us complete the order. However, even though our order was placed, orders placed after ours were served before us.
Our meal included fries, but the fries were not served. Rishad asked us to wait for two minutes, so we waited. More than 10 minutes passed while we were already having our dinner, but the fries were still not served and we were not informed about any delay.
When we finally approached him and asked if the fries could be exchanged for a Coke since they had not been served, the fries were then provided. I questioned why we had not been informed that the fries would take longer than the two minutes we were initially told to wait.
What was particularly upsetting was his response. Instead of acknowledging the delay or apologising for the inconvenience, he told me that I was creating an unnecessary argument as a customer.
This is completely unacceptable customer service.
Rishad’s behaviour throughout the interaction was extremely rude, dismissive and unprofessional. He appeared to have very little understanding of how a customer concern should be handled. A customer who politely raises a legitimate concern should not be made to feel that their complaint is “unnecessary.”
I eventually returned the fries and did not consume them.
I strongly believe that Rishad needs proper training and education in customer service, communication and handling customer complaints. If an employee representing a reputed brand cannot respond to a genuine customer concern respectfully, the management needs to take this matter seriously and review whether he is suitable for a customer-facing role.
I request KFC management to investigate this incident and take appropriate action. At the very least, he needs to be properly trained on how to treat and communicate with customers. If his conduct is found to violate the company’s customer-service standards, the management should take whatever disciplinary action is appropriate, including removal from the customer-facing role or termination if warranted.
This was one of the worst customer-service experiences I have had at KFC, and I hope the management takes this feedback seriously.
