The Consumer Grievance Officer,

I am filing this complaint against Zomato and Domino's Pizza for repeated incidents of non-delivery of food orders despite accepting the orders, collecting payment, and continuously displaying misleading delivery updates.

This is the second time I have faced the exact same issue. On both occasions, I placed an order for Domino's Pizza through the Zomato application. After placing the order, the application repeatedly displayed messages stating that the food would arrive in "9 minutes," "10 minutes," "15 minutes," or "20 minutes." However, the food was never delivered within the promised time.

During the previous incident, my family and I waited until nearly 12:00 a.m. expecting the order to arrive because the application continuously showed that the food was only a few minutes away. Despite waiting late into the night while hungry, the order was never delivered. The next day, after I raised a complaint, I received a call from customer support. They apologized and informed me that the order could not be delivered due to certain operational issues. I was assured that such an incident would not occur again and that the matter would be addressed to prevent future recurrence.

Unfortunately, despite these assurances, the exact same issue has occurred again. In the current incident, I have been waiting for over an hour while the application continuously updates the delivery estimate, repeatedly showing that the order is only a few minutes away. This creates a false impression that the food will arrive shortly, causing customers to continue waiting instead of making alternative arrangements.

If the restaurant or delivery partner is unable to fulfill an order, they should not accept the order in the first place. Customers place food orders because they are hungry and expect the service provider to deliver as promised. Accepting orders without the ability or intention to deliver them, while continuously displaying inaccurate delivery times, amounts to misleading service and causes significant inconvenience and mental distress.

Additionally, the contact number provided for assistance has been of no help. Whenever I attempted to contact the concerned party, the line consistently showed as busy, making it impossible to obtain any clarification or support regarding the delayed order.

The repeated nature of this issue demonstrates a serious deficiency in service, lack of accountability, and failure to implement corrective measures even after a previous complaint and assurance from customer support.

I therefore request the Consumer Forum to:

1. Investigate the repeated non-delivery of orders by Zomato and Domino's Pizza.
2. Examine the practice of displaying misleading delivery timelines that do not reflect the actual status of the order.
3. Take appropriate action for deficiency in service and unfair trade practices.
4. Direct the service providers to establish proper customer support mechanisms and accurate order tracking.
5. Award suitable compensation for the inconvenience, wasted time, mental harassment, and repeated disruption caused by these incidents.

I am enclosing screenshots of the order status, delivery timeline updates, payment details, and any available communication records as evidence in support of this complaint.

I request that appropriate action be taken to ensure that other consumers do not face similar difficulties in the future.
