Complaint Against Forest Hills, Tala Resort
Subject: Complaint regarding non-refund of duplicate payment of ₹19,000I wish to raise a formal complaint against Forest Hills, Tala Resort regarding the non-refund of an amount of ₹19,000, which was inadvertently paid twice for my stay at the resort on 30th and 31st May 2026.
I had made an advance payment of ₹5,000 on 27th May 2026 towards my booking. Upon reaching the resort on 30th May 2026, I was asked to make the remaining payment of ₹19,000 immediately.
I initially attempted to make the payment through my card, but the transaction was unsuccessful. At the time, there was considerable confusion and multiple arguments taking place at the resort involving other guests. I requested the staff to allow me some time to make the payment after freshening up, but my request was refused. I therefore made the payment through UPI using another bank account.
A few hours later, after reaching my room, I realised that the amount of ₹19,000 had been debited twice, from two different accounts.
I immediately informed the front desk about the duplicate payment. I also have WhatsApp correspondence with the resort regarding this issue, in which the duplicate payment was acknowledged by the resort.
I was assured that the excess amount would be refunded by the accounts team within a day or two. Relying on this assurance, I did not immediately escalate the matter.
However, despite more than two months of continuous follow-ups, the amount has still not been refunded.
On one occasion, the resort informed me that the refund had allegedly been processed. I immediately requested the transaction/reference details so that I could verify the same with my bank. However, despite this request, no transaction details were provided and there was again no meaningful response from the resort.
The amount of ₹19,000 is significant, and retaining money that was admittedly paid twice, despite repeated requests for its return, is unacceptable.
I therefore request that:
- The complete duplicate payment of ₹19,000 be refunded to me immediately.
- If the resort maintains that the refund has already been processed, complete transaction/reference details and proof of the refund be provided immediately.
- Any reasonable costs or losses incurred by me due to the prolonged withholding of the amount be appropriately compensated.
- The resort provide a written explanation for the delay in processing the refund despite acknowledging the duplicate payment.
I request that this matter be resolved at the earliest. Failing this, I reserve my right to pursue appropriate remedies before the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and/or any other appropriate authority, including seeking the refund, compensation, interest, and costs incurred in pursuing the matter.
I hope the resort will resolve this issue promptly and avoid the need for further proceedings.
