I am writing to request your urgent intervention regarding non refund of admission fees by Universal High School, Chembur, Mumbai for my daughter’s admission for AY 2026-27.
1. Students and fee details are as follows:
Name: Charvi Kushwaha
Class: Grade -1 ( Not started yet)
AY: 2026-27
Amount paid: 56,085 RS.
Receipt no: UHSC/1762161128254
Date of payment: 03 November 2025
2. Reason for cancellation:
Our family is relocating from Mumbai to Hyderabad and due to this shift, we will not be able to continue schooling in Mumbai.
My child cannot attend the school
No educational services have been used
The school can easily give the seat to another student.
Retaining the entire amount is unfair and disproportionate ( This look like a one kind of business scam)
3. Schools Response
We submitted formal cancellations requests and my wife also visited the school in person.
However the school officials verbally refused to provide any refund, citing internal policy.
There is no written refusal has been provided till date only verbal communication.
4. Why this needs intervention and investigation
The Maharashtra educational institutions act 2011 was enacted to prevent commercialisation and profiteering by educational institutions.
A blanket non- refundable clause is contrary to:
*Fair practice norms
* Consumer protection principles
* The intent of the fee regulatory Act
Parents can not be forced to forfeit large sums when:
The child has not attended school
The academic year has not started
The seat can be easily reassigned immediately
5. Request for government action
I humbly request the authorities to:
Examine the conduct of the school regarding the non refund issue
Direct the school to refund the fees wholly.
Provide guidance on any add Steps or documentation needed.
Share an official acknowledgement and complaint reference number.

I sincerely request your support in resolving this matter. This involves a significant financial amount and the refusal and refund despite non utilisation of service is causing hardship.
