On March 25th, I received official communication from Gulf Air confirming that my flight to Munich, scheduled for April 26th, had been cancelled and that I am eligible for a full refund (As per Gulf Air Conditions of Carriage Article 10.2.1 and the DGCA CAR Section 3, Series M, Part IV). Following this, I promptly contacted the MakeMyTrip support team to initiate the refund process. I was assured that the request would be processed and that I would be notified once the airline completed the refund.

However, on April 25th, I received an update from MakeMyTrip side stating that I would only receive a refund of INR 8,566. Upon contacting the customer service team, I was informed that a penalty fee had been applied before processing the refund. This is both surprising and unacceptable. As you can see in the screenshot, they have just started processing INR 8566 from the beginning.

To clarify the situation, I directly contacted Gulf Air, who explicitly confirmed that:
  • I am eligible for a full refund (INR 58,875).
  • No refund request has yet been submitted by MakeMyTrip on my behalf.
This raises serious concerns about the accuracy and transparency of the process form MakeMyTrip. The flight was cancelled by the airline due to the Iran war, and there is no justification for any penalty deduction. Furthermore, despite multiple assurances from MakeMyTrip representatives that I would receive a full refund, no concrete action appears to have been taken.

This situation has caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience over the past month.
