I am writing to raise a formal complaint and compensation claim regarding repeated and unresolved delivery failures by Amazon, which have caused significant financial losses to my homestay business.

I use Amazon extensively and in good faith to support the daily operations of my accommodation property. Unfortunately, the ongoing failures described below demonstrate a pattern of service breakdown that Amazon has neither rectified nor taken responsibility for—despite being repeatedly notified.


Summary of the Issue

Over a sustained period, multiple orders critical to my business operations were:

  • Incorrectly marked as “Attempted delivery” when no delivery attempt was made
  • Left unresolved despite numerous contacts with Amazon Customer Care
  • Cancelled by Amazon after I had already waited several weeks for delivery
At every stage, I acted promptly and reasonably, escalating the matter through customer support. The only responses received were generic apologies and repeated requests to “wait,” with no corrective action, investigation, or resolution.


Impact on My Homestay Business

Because these deliveries contained essential items required to host guests, Amazon’s failures had a direct and severe commercial impact, including:

  1. Forced Cancellation of Guest Reservations
    Due to non‑receipt of essential ordered items, I had no alternative but to cancel confirmed reservations at my property.
  2. Loss of Revenue
    Cancelled stays resulted in immediate and unrecoverable income loss.
  3. Reputational Damage
    Guest cancellations harm business credibility, review scores, and future bookings—effects that extend beyond the immediate loss.
  4. Operational Disruption
    Amazon’s failure to ensure delivery reliability left me unable to operate my property despite having planned responsibly and ordered well in advance.
These outcomes were entirely foreseeable and arose solely due to Amazon’s failure to deliver as promised.


Key Concerns

  • Deliveries were falsely marked as “attempted” when no attempt was made
  • Issues were repeatedly reported, yet no effective remedial action followed
  • Orders were cancelled after weeks of waiting, leaving no opportunity to source alternatives
  • Amazon has offered no compensation, despite clear and demonstrable losses caused by its service failures
At present, Amazon appears to accept no accountability for the consequences of these failures while transferring the entire financial burden to the customer.


Basis for Compensation

My claim is based on:

  • Reasonable reliance on promised delivery timelines
  • Failure to exercise reasonable care and skill in fulfilment
  • Direct causation between Amazon’s actions (and inaction) and my losses
  • Unfair commercial impact on a small business user of your platform

Requested Resolution

I formally request that Amazon:

  1. Compensate me for the financial losses incurred, including lost reservation revenue resulting directly from delivery failures
    OR
  2. Provide a fair and proportionate goodwill settlement reflecting the business impact suffered
I can provide order references, delivery records, customer service transcripts, and evidence of cancelled reservations upon request.


Next Steps

I expect this matter to be taken seriously and reviewed by an appropriate escalation team. If no satisfactory resolution is offered within 14 calendar days, I will be forced to consider formal escalation, including external complaint and consumer/business protection routes.

I trust Amazon will recognise that this issue goes beyond routine service inconvenience and represents a material failure with real commercial consequences.
