I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against ICICI Bank for a serious instance of identity theft and financial fraud that has caused me significant emotional distress and impacted my creditworthiness.
In October 2024, I discovered that a fraudulent account was opened in my name at the ICICI Bank branch located in Moshi, Pune without my knowledge or consent. This unauthorized activity was made possible due to the misuse of my KYC document with forge photograph, which I believe was compromised.
Fraud account was open with Privilege Gold category which required min Rs 1,00,000 bal and relationship manager associated with it, despite of Rs1,00,000 cheque which submitted by fraudster was rejected, ICICI Moshi Branch kept account open and operational for 6 months without any physical verification, contact, or consent from me. I had no communication from the bank regarding the application, approval, or disbursal of this loan appear in this account. I came to know about this fraudulent activity only after noticing a negative impact on my CIBIL credit score.
Immediately upon discovering the issue, I reported the matter to:
• ICICI Bank (branch and customer care)
• The local police station and obtained a complaint acknowledgment
Despite repeated follow-ups with ICICI Bank, I have not received satisfactory resolution. The bank has failed to:
• Raise legal complaint against the fraudster
• Rectify my credit report with the credit bureau
• Identify and penalize the staff or internal lapses involved
This fraud has caused me tremendous emotional and financial hardship, including having to postpone a major purchase decision (a car) during the Diwali festival, which affected my family as well.
I request the Hon’ble Consumer Court to:
1. Rectify my CIBIL credit score
2. Take appropriate action against the bank for gross negligence
3. Award compensation for the mental agony, time loss, and reputational damage caused to me and my family
I am attaching relevant documents including my PAN card, CIBIL report, police complaint acknowledgment, and correspondence with the bank for your reference.
