Respected Authority,
I am filing this formal complaint against Decorpot for gross deficiency in service, unfair trade practices, financial misrepresentation, and willful evasion of liability regarding my home renovation project.
Chronological Sequence of Events:
1. Initial Engagement & Token Payment (Mar'2026):
I approached Decorpot for the complete interior renovation of my residential property. Decorpot stipulated that civil work must be completed prior to initiating carpentry work. When I stated that I had no background or vendor contacts for civil work, Decorpot’s team explicitly offered to arrange this and introduced me to their employee/representative, Mr. Souradip Kar, to supervise and execute the civil work. Concurrently, I paid a token advance of ₹46,000/- directly to Decorpot under quotation terms.
2. Civil Work Execution & Payments (April – August):
Relying entirely on Decorpot’s official introduction and brand representation, I engaged Souradip Kar for the civil work. Between April and August, I transferred a total of ₹4,60,000/- to him for labor and procurement of materials. Souradip officially acknowledged receipt of these funds in written documentation.
3. Abandonment of Site & Absconding (August):
The civil work remains incomplete, substandard, and stalled. When questioned about material invoices and site progress, Souradip switched off his phone, ceased all communication, and absconded with the funds.
4. Decorpot’s Refusal of Accountability & Obstruction:
When this issue was escalated to Decorpot’s senior management (including Mr. Manish and Mr. Siddhanta Ray), the company refused to intervene, claiming the civil work was arranged "independently" despite their own staff making the introduction. Decorpot advised me to lodge a police complaint against Souradip individually, but simultaneously refused to provide his complete address, identification documents, or official records under the guise of data privacy policies, intentionally obstructing legal recourse.
5. Refusal to Refund or Adjust Advance Token:
Decorpot has also refused to refund the ₹46,000/- token advance. In an effort to reach an amicable resolution, I formally requested to adjust this advance against standalone furniture items (such as a sofa or dining table) from their official catalogue. Decorpot rejected this proposal outright.
Summary of Financial Claims & Relief Sought:
Refund / Recovery of ₹4,60,000/- paid towards the incomplete civil work arranged via Decorpot's introduction and representation.
Full Refund of ₹46,000/- (Token amount paid directly to Decorpot) or immediate delivery of equivalent catalogue furniture.
Compensation for Mental Agony and Harassment: ₹ 1,00,000/- for deliberate obfuscation, project delays, and distress.
Litigation Expenses: ₹25,000/-
Attached Supporting Documents:
- Copy of Decorpot quotation and proof of ₹46,000/- token payment.
- Bank transfer receipts and written acknowledgments for ₹4,60,000/- paid to Souradip Kar.
- Email correspondence with Decorpot management showing their introduction, subsequent denial of liability, and refusal to provide identification details.
- Photographs of the unfinished renovation site.
I request the Forum to register this complaint, issue formal notice to Decorpot, and initiate necessary proceedings to direct the Opposite Party to refund the amounts and compensate for the damages incurred.
