Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to lodge a formal consumer complaint against Gati Packers and Movers and its representative, Nagesh Sharma, for misleading pricing, lack of transparency, unjustified charges, and mental harassment.

I found this service provider through Google search following my enquiry on Saturday, 24 October 2026, for transporting three boxes from Delhi to Rishikesh.

During our initial conversation, I shared the exact dimensions of all three boxes (128 × 70 × 80 cm, 65 × 62 × 76 cm and 65 × 62 × 76 cm), with an approximate actual weight of 35 kg. He quoted ₹90 per kg and collected the boxes the same day, assuring me that the final charges would be confirmed the following morning.

On Sunday, 25 October, he issued a bill of ₹23,850, calculated using a dimensional weight of 265 kg. I immediately disputed the amount.

My primary concern is: when I had already provided the exact dimensions before collection, why was the estimated cost not disclosed upfront? Even if dimensional weight was the intended pricing basis, he had all the necessary information to calculate and communicate the estimated charges before collecting my belongings.

Upon rejecting the quotation and requesting the return of my boxes, he demanded ₹5,000. I ultimately had to pay ₹4,000 simply to recover my own belongings.

He is now justifying this charge by claiming that the boxes had already been transported to a hub in Bilaspur. However, I had declined the service the very next morning and had never authorised him to dispatch my belongings to any other location. A service provider cannot unilaterally move a customer's belongings and subsequently impose arbitrary charges to return them. I request evidence of this alleged dispatch and justification for the amount charged.

This entire episode has caused considerable mental harassment, stress, frustration and inconvenience. Being confronted with an exorbitant quotation after handing over my belongings, followed by pressure to pay ₹4,000 just to recover my own property, was extremely distressing and unacceptable. No consumer should be put through such an experience because of a service provider's failure to communicate pricing transparently.

I request the following:

  1. Refund of the ₹4,000 charged for returning my belongings.
  2. Investigation into the misleading pricing, alleged unauthorised movement of my boxes and unjustified charges.
  3. Appropriate action against the service provider for any established unfair trade practices.
  4. Reasonable compensation for the mental harassment and inconvenience caused.

I request that this complaint be taken seriously and appropriate action initiated to prevent other consumers from facing similar harassment.

Regards,
Ankit Garg
