1. Facts of the Case
  • I purchased a RECONNECT 6KG FRONT LOAD Washing Machine (Model RHWFLB6002 WHITE) from Reliance Digital on 08.04.2022 for Rs. 17,490 (net purchase value after discounts).
  • Complaint No. 701700367 was registered with Reliance Digital regarding malfunctioning of the washing machine.
  • Reliance Digital informed me that the machine is non‑repairable due to unavailability of spare parts.
  • Reliance Digital offered only 50% refund (Rs. 8,745), conditional upon surrendering the product, accessories, and bill.
2. Grounds for Complaint
  • The product has failed within a reasonable lifespan, not due to misuse but due to manufacturer’s inability to provide spare parts.
  • This constitutes deficiency of service and unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
  • Offering only 50% refund is unjust and places the burden of manufacturer’s failure on the consumer.
3. Relief Sought
I respectfully request the Hon’ble Commission to direct Reliance Digital to:
  1. Provide a refund of 80%–100% of the purchase value (Rs. 17,490), OR
  2. Provide a replacement washing machine of equivalent specifications at no additional cost.
  3. Award compensation for mental agony and inconvenience caused due to deficiency of service.
  4. Award litigation costs incurred in pursuing this complaint.
