Sir, I am writing to bring to your urgent attention a serious case of harassment and unfair practices by the local electricity department staff, specifically the area SDO in Jaunpur. Our house mostly remains locked and empty, yet we received an impossibly high and erroneous electricity bill of 3 Lakhs due to departmental irregularities. To resolve this, I filed complaints twice on the Jansunwai portal. The first time, the department completely ignored my grievance. When I filed the complaint a second time, the area SDO pressured me. He stated that the meter bill could not be revised immediately. He promised that if I registered for the government One Time Settlement OTS scheme right then, they would revise and correct the actual bill later in April.

Being a poor person with no other option, I trusted his official word and opted for the OTS under pressure. It is now July, and the department officials are completely backtracking on their commitment. They are now flatly refusing to make any changes to the old bill and are behaving high handedly. To make matters worse, the new meter that has been installed recently is also running exceptionally fast and generating an extremely high and unjustified bill despite our minimal power consumption. This arbitrary behavior, faulty new metering, and false assurance have left me under extreme mental depression and financial distress.

Therefore, I request an immediate inquiry into the false assurances given by the SDO regarding the post OTS bill revision and a thorough check of the newly installed meter. I also request a physical re verification of both the meters and actual consumption history of the locked house. Kindly issue an official revision of the inflated 3 Lakh bill along with the current faulty bills to reflect true consumption, and provide protection from any forced disconnection until this matter is resolved.
