My concern is why promotional pop-ups pushed to customers and how Airtel determined that the click/activation reflected my informed consent rather than an accidental interaction.

In my recent bill additional charges included mentioning the line item "International Roaming 10 Day Data Addon Pack @2499_NRC (C)" of amount 2499 This is on top of 10 days IR package INR 2999. When I landed overseas on 13 July, a pop-up appeared on my device. As a customer, I reasonably assumed it was related to international roaming (IR) services as I had opted this one day prior of my travel to overseas.
I received a bill with unexpected charges. On checking Airtel customer care mentioned, its promotional popup/notification. I clicked that, got activated online.
I sent eight emails so far yet my original queries remain unanswered. I am very much disappointed that instead of addressing the fundamental concerns raised, the responses received so far have merely stated that a pop-up notification was clicked and a service was activated.
I request clear and specific answers to the following question.
  1. Why are chargeable promotional pop-ups being pushed to customers in the first place?
  2. How does Airtel distinguish between an accidental click and a deliberate customer consent action?
  3. What confirmation or verification process exists before a chargeable service is activated?
  4. What mechanism is available for customers to immediately revoke, dispute, or prevent unintended activations?
Further, since Airtel has concluded that I clicked the notification and activated the service, I request the complete audit trail associated with this transaction, including:
  • Exact date and time of each click/action recorded against my number.
  • Details of every screen, pop-up, prompt, or confirmation shown to the customer.
  • Evidence relied upon by Airtel to establish customer consent.
  • Any subsequent actions recorded from my device, including attempts to opt out, cancel, or deactivate the service.
  • The timestamps of all such actions and the corresponding system logs.
As a customer, I am entitled to understand how a chargeable service was activated and what safeguards Airtel has in place to protect users from unintended subscriptions. A generic statement that a notification was clicked does not adequately address these concerns.

I request a detailed response addressing each point above and providing the supporting logs and evidence relied upon in this case. Also refund the amount as I piad to avoid late fees
