Dear Sir/Mam,

I booked an Airtel Wi-Fi/Broadband connection after being approached by an Airtel sales representative. As instructed, I paid an advance amount of ₹1,500, representing two months' subscription charges, which was to be adjusted against my future bills. Before accepting the payment, Airtel obtained my complete installation address and confirmed my booking.

After the payment was successfully made, Airtel confirmed that my broadband connection would be installed on 5 August 2026 at 5:00 PM. However, no installation engineer visited my premises. When I contacted the assigned engineer, he informed me that he would not be coming and asked me to contact the Airtel sales representative.

Thereafter, I contacted Airtel Customer Care more than 20–25 times seeking installation of the connection. Despite repeated calls, no satisfactory response or resolution was provided. I also sent multiple emails to Airtel requesting installation or a refund, but I did not receive any effective response.

Subsequently, I was informed that my address is not serviceable and Airtel cannot provide the broadband connection. If my location was not serviceable, Airtel should have verified this before accepting my booking and collecting the advance payment. Accepting money, confirming an installation appointment, and later refusing to provide the service is a clear case of deficiency in service and an unfair trade practice.

Because of Airtel's negligence, I have suffered financial loss, unnecessary inconvenience, mental harassment, and considerable waste of time in repeatedly contacting customer care and following up through emails. Despite several requests, Airtel has neither installed the connection nor promptly refunded my advance payment.

Relief Sought

  1. Refund the advance amount of ₹1,500 immediately along with applicable interest from the date of payment.
  2. Award compensation of ₹50,000 for mental harassment, inconvenience, and deficiency in service.
  3. Award litigation costs and any other relief deemed appropriate by the Hon'ble Consumer Commission.
  4. Direct Airtel to discontinue the practice of accepting payments without first verifying whether a location is serviceable.
