Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing to file a formal consumer complaint against SBI Cards & Payment Services Ltd. for their failure to resolve a fraudulent transaction of ₹42,872 on my credit card, and for causing mental harassment through continuous demand emails despite the dispute being under investigation.

Complaint Details

  • Bank Name: SBI Cards & Payment Services Ltd.
  • Credit Card No.: [Last 4 digits – XXXX]
  • Disputed Transaction Amount: ₹42,872
  • Transaction Date: 08 April 2025
  • Nature of Fraud: IVR phishing call claiming to be from Amazon; OTP was misused
  • Dispute Raised On: Same day (08 April 2025)
  • FIR Filed: Yes, copy attached
  • Status as per SBI: Under investigation
  • Latest Action: SBI has generated a bill including the disputed amount and is demanding payment by 05 June 2025, failing which late fees and interest are being charged.

Summary of Grievance

  1. On 08 April 2025, I received an IVR call allegedly from Amazon stating an attempt was made to change my account password. I was asked to press “1” and later provide an OTP, after which ₹42,872 was fraudulently debited from my SBI credit card.
  2. I immediately raised a dispute with SBI Cards and filed a police complaint (FIR attached). SBI requested all documents — police FIR, SMS proof, and detailed explanation — which I submitted without delay.
  3. Despite assurance that the issue would be resolved after receiving documents, SBI has neither refunded the amount nor provided details of the transaction such as:
    • Merchant ID/TID
    • IP address and location logs
    • OTP authentication and authorization trail
  4. On 02 June 2025, SBI issued a credit card bill demanding full payment by 05 June 2025, including the disputed transaction, and started sending daily email and SMS reminders. This has caused extreme mental harassment.
  5. SBI even blocked the old card, temporarily issued a new card, credited and then reversed the disputed amount, and continued billing me unfairly.

Reliefs Sought

  1. Immediate and permanent reversal of the disputed transaction amount ₹42,872
  2. Waiver of all interest, late payment fees, and penalties
  3. Written confirmation that the issue is closed in my favor
  4. Compensation for harassment and mental agony caused due to repeated billing and reminders during an active dispute
  5. Action against SBI Cards for negligence and deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019

Attached Documents

  1. Copy of the FIR
  2. Dispute acknowledgment and communication with SBI
  3. Credit card statement showing the disputed amount
  4. Email/SMS evidence of reminders from SBI

I kindly request your honorable commission to accept this complaint and initiate appropriate proceedings against SBI Cards. I am ready to appear in person or provide further documentation if required.

Thank you for your time and support.

Sincerely,
Mohammed Yakub Harapanahalli
