Dear Ola Customer Support Team,

I am writing to report an extremely serious case of fraud and deception that I experienced during my recent Ola ride on April 28, 2025, which has left me deeply disturbed, frustrated, and concerned about the safety and trustworthiness of using your platform.

Ride Details:

  • Date & Time: April 28, 2025, at 08:07 PM
  • Pickup: Decimal Technologies Private Limited, Ramgarh, Sector 67, Gurugram, Haryana – 122002
  • Drop: SKS Excel Inn, C 125, C Block Rd, Block C, South City I, Sector 41, Gurugram, Haryana – 122001
  • Usual Fare Range for this Route: ₹200 – ₹300
  • Charged Fare: ₹607
  • Vehicle Number Driven: HR-84-5140 (NOT the one listed in the Ola app)

Summary of Fraudulent Activity:

  1. Mismatch in Vehicle Number:
    • The vehicle that arrived had registration number HR-84-5140, which did not match the number shown in the Ola app.
    • Upon asking the driver, he claimed he was in the process of “updating it with Ola,” which I now suspect was a blatant lie.
  2. Driver Used Personal Device and Google Maps:
    • The driver said his Ola app device was about to die and asked me to use another phone to navigate using Google Maps.
    • I agreed, believing it to be genuine at the time. In hindsight, this was likely part of a well-orchestrated scam.
  3. Fake Fare Display & Suspicious Screenshot:
    • At the end of the trip, the driver showed me a suspicious screenshot (not from the official Ola app interface) demanding a fare of ₹607.
    • I was shocked to see such an inflated amount.
  4. Manipulated Ride Metrics in My Ola App:
    • When I checked my Ola app, the same inflated fare of ₹607 was displayed — which was even more disturbing.
    • The app falsely showed a distance of 45.4 KM and a drop location at NH 248A, Marora, Haryana — a completely unrelated and distant location, with no connection to my actual route.
    • The total ride time shown was 23 minutes, yet the route supposedly covered over 45 KM, which is physically impossible.
  5. Fabricated Toll/Parking Charges:
    • The fare included ₹125 as toll/parking charges, although there were no toll booths or parking stopsthroughout the ride. This is pure fabrication.

My Concerns as a Loyal Customer:

I have used Ola regularly for this exact route and have never faced such pricing or fraud issues. The typical fare is always between ₹200–₹300, and I have come to trust Ola for safe, reliable transport.

This experience, however, has completely shattered my trust. I now fear using the Ola app, as it appears that even the app itself can be manipulated or tampered with — leaving customers with no recourse once the fare is displayed.

It feels like a high-tech scam, possibly involving:

  • Tampering with trip distance data
  • Use of non-registered vehicles
  • Unauthorized personnel posing as Ola drivers
  • Manipulated app interfaces or forged screenshots

Request for Immediate Action:

  1. Immediate Investigation:
Please investigate this ride in full — including GPS route history, driver identity, vehicle ownership, and device data.
  2. Identify & Penalize the Fraudsters:
The individuals involved must be immediately removed, prosecuted, and reported to authorities for criminal fraud and impersonation.
  3. Full Refund:
I request a full and immediate refund of the ₹607 charged fraudulently.
  4. Assurance & Security Measures:
Please explain what steps Ola is taking to prevent such scams from happening in the future and to protect genuine users.

Final Thoughts:

As a long-time user of Ola, I never imagined I would be writing this email — but this incident was a “Super Ultra Pro Max” level of scam that could happen to anyone. If this is not investigated and addressed with the utmost seriousness, your entire platform risks losing public trust.

Please respond urgently and let me know what steps are being taken.
