Thread Title:
Unfair Denial of Answer Script & Lack of Transparency in IELTS EOR (Writing Module)
---
Discussion / Complaint:
I, Muhammed Suhail Sikkander Basha, appeared for the IELTS Academic Test (21st July 2025 – Coimbatore Test Centre, India) conducted by IDP IELTS India Pvt. Ltd.
My Writing score was 6.0, whereas my other scores were: Listening 6.5, Speaking 6.5, Reading 7.5.
I applied for Enquiry on Results (EOR) on 1st August 2025, paying an additional ₹13,500. After 3 weeks, IDP informed me that my Writing band remains unchanged. However, despite repeated written requests, I have been denied access to my Writing answer script and component-wise marking.
This is highly unfair as:
1. I paid the full IELTS fee + EOR fee but was not provided transparency.
2. As per Right to Information Act, 2005 (Sec 2(f)), evaluated answer scripts constitute "information" and should be disclosed.
3. Under Consumer Protection Act, 2019, withholding such information constitutes “deficiency of service” and “unfair trade practice.”
4. This has caused me serious academic loss, as my admission to Imperial College London requires 6.5 in Writing, and I cannot proceed without proof of fair evaluation.
I request Consumer Court / Forum to direct IDP IELTS India to:
Provide my Writing answer script and detailed component-wise scores.
Refund my EOR fee (₹13,500) for lack of transparency.
Award suitable compensation for mental agony and academic loss.
