I placed an order on Swiggy Instamart on 1 February 2026 with order ID 228900321744167 and cancelled the same within a few minutes of placing the order. Despite the fact that no products were delivered, the platform levied a 100% cancellation charge amounting to ₹457, and no refund was issued.
The said cancellation policy is arbitrary, unfair, and misleading. As a consumer, I was under the bona fide belief that “100% cancellation fee” would mean no additional penalty and full refund of the order amount, not forfeiture of the entire amount without delivery of goods. The policy was not adequately explained or transparently disclosed at the time of placing the order.
Charging the entire order value as a cancellation fee, without providing any goods or services, amounts to unjust enrichment and constitutes an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. At best, a nominal cancellation fee (such as ₹50 or ₹100) could have been charged to cover administrative costs. Levying a 100% fee is grossly disproportionate and exploitative.
Further, if cancellation is not permissible without full forfeiture, the platform should not provide a cancellation option at all, as doing so misleads consumers into believing that cancellation is reasonable and fair.
I therefore request the Hon’ble Authority to:
This act has caused me financial loss and mental harassment, and I seek suitable relief in the interest of consumer justice.

I therefore request the Hon’ble Authority to:
- Direct Swiggy to refund the full amount of ₹457 deducted as cancellation charges.
- Examine the legality and fairness of imposing a 100% cancellation fee without delivery.
- Issue appropriate directions to prevent such unfair and deceptive practices in the future.
