Dear Strava and Google Pixel Support Teams,
I would like to report an unusual experience I had with my Strava app on 11th October 2025 while travelling from Delhi to Guwahati.
Before boarding my flight, I started my Strava activity while travelling to the airport and forgot to stop it before takeoff. To my surprise, after landing at Guwahati Airport, I noticed that the Strava activity was still running and had recorded the entire distance—approximately 1, 552 km—with an average speed of about 481 km/h, as shown in the attached screenshot.

What’s particularly intriguing is that this activity was tracked without any active internet connection during the flight. My phone, a Google Pixel 6a, was in airplane mode throughout the journey.
I would like to understand:
How Strava was able to continue recording such accurate distance and speed data during a flight without an internet connection.
Whether the Google Pixel 6a has any satellite-based functionality or sensor-based tracking features that might have enabled Strava to record the flight path.
If this is a known behavior or possible GPS/sensor data caching mechanism between Strava and the Pixel 6a.
I’ve attached a screenshot for your reference.
Please let me know if you require any additional details or logs from my device to investigate this further.
Thank you for your time and support.
I look forward to your explanation on how this tracking occurred.
Best regards,
Asha Kanta Sharma (Ashok)
