Complaint against Sketra.com (Quantico Global India Private Ltd.
I purchased a Sketra Smart Run Treadmill from e-commerce site of sketra.com vide Order No 25082, Invoice no 5427, Invoice value being INR 48999.00 dated Sept 18, 2021. The rated capacity of the motor as per the website specification page of 1860 watt and maximum wet bearing capacity is 150 kg.
Unfortunately, the treadmill started giving problem when my son, whose weight is around 104 kg, started using the machine from 15/12/2023 and the problem was reported to sketra.com. The malfunctioning of the treadmill was reported on 18/12/2023. Till then the company replaced the motor 3 times and arranged for repair of a damaged motor. Every time the motors got burnt out since all the motors supplier company supplied/repaired motors having 930-watt capacity which could not withstand 104 K.G. weight of my son.
Although the motor was still within warranty period of 5 years the company recovered Rs. 2999 as cost of the machine and Rs. 5000 as motor repairing charges.
After lot of correspondence finally on 3rd September 2025 I received a motor of 1860 watt capacity as warranty replacement. This motor was an odd sized motor and could not be fitted in the treadmill motor casing. I requested for a motor of compatible size on 6th September 2025 and on 25th September 2025 and the supplier confirmed me that they are going to arrange for a motor of appropriate size as warranty replacement having a capacity of 1860 watt.
Although the said odd size motor was duly picked up by the company as return consignment, they failed to send a warranty replacement of a motor of 1860 watt of compatible size and finally on 4th December I got a WhatsApp message from the service department of the supplier that it is not possible to provide me a Motor of 1860 watt.
In view of above I observed the following: :
- The Supplier Company follows an unfair policy of publishing in the website a false specification as to the capacity of the motor and maximum working load of the machine to influence the purchaser to unknowingly purchase a treadmill the capacity of the motor of which is lower than what is published in the website with an objective to boost up their ecommerce sale knowing fully well that the purchaser does not have any opportunity to check the capacity of the motor before receiving the delivery.
- The original motor which came with the Treadmill was also an underpowered motor of 930 watt that is why when a load of 104 kg was applied the motor got burnt whereas as per the company website the motor should have been 1860 watt and the maximum load is 150kg.
- While fitting the first warranty replacement motor I noticed that the shape, size and the labelled specification and weight of the supplied motor was exactly same as the original motor which came with the treadmill.
- The company instructed to incur wasteful expenditure of Rs 2999 as cost of replacement and motor repairing charges of 5000 within the warranty period. The supplier Company did this knowing fully well that a low powered motor of 930 watt will get burned when weight of 104 kg, my son’s weight, will be applied to the motor within a few minutes of workout.
- The company adopted a practice of wasting and killing time by repeatedly sending and collecting underpowered or incompatible motors several times from 18/12/2023 and since then I could not effectively use the treadmill 95% of the period when my son and I were supposed to do physical workout exercise on the treadmill since both of us are in need physical workout on regular basis. It also to caused immense harassment on me and my son had to buy a FITKIT spin cycle since the treadmill can not withstand his weight of 104 kgs.
- Return of Cost of the treadmill Rs. 48999.00
- Return of price of replacement motor within warranty period Rs. 2999.00
- Return of wasteful motor repairing charges Rs. 5000.00
- Cost of a FITKIT spin cycle (my son is using now) Rs. 7000.00
- Harassment charges
- (Reasonable treadmilling charges @ 1000 p.m. for 25 months Rs. 25000.00

I also demand all legal charges which will be incurred by myself while processing this petition and an interest on delayed payment on the awarded amount @2% per month from the date of declaration of the award.
