To whom it may concern,
I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against Planet Spark for denying my genuine cancellation request and continuing to charge EMI payments despite early communication about my inability to continue.
Despite liking the class quality, I raised a request for cancellation based on my scheduling challenges.
I request the Consumer Forum to kindly intervene and help me resolve this matter at the earliest.
Sincerely,
I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against Planet Spark for denying my genuine cancellation request and continuing to charge EMI payments despite early communication about my inability to continue.
Background:
- On 29th June 2025, I registered with Planet Spark and paid an upfront amount of ₹7,840 at the time of registration.
- Additionally, I was enrolled in an EMI plan on my debit card of ₹2,250/month for 18 months.
- I was granted access to the Planet Spark portal approximately 48 hours after payment.
- Between 29th June and the first week of July, only three classes were attended:
- 1 Learn Class
- 2 Practice Classes
- 0 Performance Classes
Issue:
Due to unavoidable personal reasons — specifically my full-time job responsibilities, two school-going children, and joint family obligations — I realized within the first week that I would be unable to continue with the course.Despite liking the class quality, I raised a request for cancellation based on my scheduling challenges.
Steps Taken:
- Around 9th July I informed Planet Spark of my situation.
- I initially spoke to a counsellor, who tried to convince me to continue. I clearly stated that I cannot proceed.
- As advised, I raised a ticket on their support portal.
- In the following weeks, I received three separate follow-up calls, each time facing pressure to continue instead of support for cancellation.
- On the third call, I was told that cancellation is only allowed after attending 10 live classes, which was never communicated to me during registration.
- After emailing them and asking for written policy and class attendance proof, they responded saying:
- Cancellation is not allowed if more than 4 classes are attended.
- However, I have attended only 3 classes in total.
Unfair Practice:
- Planet Spark did not disclose the cancellation policy clearly at the time of registration.
- The number of attended classes was manipulated from their end, falsely claiming I attended 6 classes.
- When I asked them to provide proof, they have not responded to my follow-up emails.
- This behavior is unethical and amounts to misrepresentation and refusal of rightful service discontinuation.
Relief Sought:
I am seeking the following resolutions:- Immediate cancellation of the Planet Spark subscription.
- Stop all further EMI deductions on my debit card.
- Refund the initial amount of ₹7,840, as the service has not been fully availed.
- An appropriate action or penalty against Planet Spark for unfair trade practice and harassment.
