SUBJECT: Urgent Intervention required for refund not payed by byjus.
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to formally file a complaint against Byjus Center of Najafgarh regarding not paying the refund, they're ignoring us, and refusal to issue a promised refund for canceling our children's admission.
Details of the Incident:
On 30 October 2023, we admitted our child in Byjus Center Najafgarh, but they made some mistakes when they were doing the admissions process. After a few days, the admissions process starts again, and finally, it’s successful on November 2, 2023. When they redid the admissions process, they didn’t give us the slip; they just said that they would send all the things via email or WhatsApp. Byjus also organized a parent's meeting. In the parents meeting, which was held on November 16, 2023, the tuition classes for our children were started. On November 22, 2023, our child takes his first class. And on November 26, 2023, he takes his last class at Byjus.
On November 29, 2024, we submit the application for cancellation of the admission of our child to Miss Anshu. Then we got a call from the Byjus office regarding the cancellation of our child’s admission. The person who was talking to us about this situation, whose name was Mr. Sheetal Kumar, He asks us why we are canceling the admission of our child, and we tell him all the reasons. He said, Okay, please wait for a refund.” But until today, we didn’t get our money back.
Byjus also gave their tablet to our child, but on February 3, 2024, we submit the tablet to Mr. Sohail Khan. The actual price of the tablet was 12000/- Rs. But we only got 8000/- Rs. on 4 February 2024. The actual fees of Byjus were 69000/- Rs. We paid the fees online with a credit card. The fee structure was like 12000/- of tablet + 57000/-.
In November 2023, our installment was made. Our first installment was cut on November 17, 2023, which was the last date to pay the installment. {Structure of the installment: 18 months (3166.64/-×18)}. On our EMI, the extra interest was cut, but they said that there was no interest we had to pay because it’s an education loan, and on an education loan there is no interest. But still, we are paying interest on our EMI, which was 999.97.
On 29 November, 2023 We go to the Byjus Center to cancel the admission of our child. They said if you want to cancel the process of admission for your child, you have to do this process in under 15 days, but we did this process in under 10 days for cancellation. And we said to them that we want to cancel all this admissions process and that we want our money back as a refund. They said, Okay, you have to submit the application for this process. So we submit the application. After this, they said that in under 1 week, someone would call you from the head office for the verification of the cancellation process. Then we got the call on December 1, 2023, from their head office. The person who called us was Mr. Shital Kumbhar. He ensures us that we got our money back. But we didn’t get back our money. So many times, we go to their office regarding this matter. They said this process takes time; please wait 1–2 months. They said we punched your complaint, and your complaint is at the top. Whenever we get a call from the head office, we return your money. But we didn’t get back our money. We talked to the center employee so many times and asked them how much time it would take to return our money. They always said, Please wait; this process takes time. The same thing they were saying. But until today, we didn’t get our money back.
We talked with so many employees of Byjus, and one is Miss Anshu. She said we emailed your complaint regarding the cancellation process. We told her to please show us the email, but she said we couldn’t show you the email because it’s against our company policy. Please trust us; we have already emailed your complaint. You get back your money whenever the head office sees your email. Please wait for 15 days under this time period; you will definitely get your money back. After 15 days, we go back to the Byjus Center, but the other employees say Miss Anshu is not there, so we call her and say, Mam, we didn’t get our money back until today. We have already waited 15 days. So she said, Mam. I resigned from Byjus Center. Also, she switched off her number permanently after this.
Then we had a conversation with Mr. Sohail Khan. He was the person who admitted our child. After the conversation with Miss Anshu, we talked to him and told him all the situations, so he said, Please talk to Miss Netu. She is the new employee in charge in place of Miss Anshu. We went to the Byjus Center, and the employees said, Please talk to Miss Nitu regarding your problem. Miss Netu said we already submitted your complaint; whenever the head office calls us, you will get your money back, so please wait because this process takes 15-20 days. She also said that during this time period, someone called us regarding our problem, but no one called. After waiting 15 to 20 days, we went again to the Byjus Center and told them that we didn’t get back our money. Then Miss Netu gave us the email of Byjus head office and said, Email them; they will resolve your problem and you will get back your money. She also gave us the helpline number of the Byjus Center. But after doing all the things, we still didn’t get back our money.
When we went again to the Byjus Center to meet Miss Netu, the other employees told us that she had transferred from here. After her, Mr. Shiva got that post. Then we talked to Mr. Shiva, and he said that our admission is cancelled, but the refunding process is still going on, so please wait. He also said that one of the head office employees would call us, but no one called.
We again went to the Byjus Center and talked to them, and we also talked with so many employees, but still we didn’t get back our money. Also, Miss Netu gave us emails I’d of Byju’s head office. Then we email them so many times that after trying too many times, we get one response in which they say, Please send your child’s details so we can verify. Then we send them all the details they asked for. After that one reply, they didn’t reply again.
After sending so many emails, we still didn’t get the answers or our money, so we called the employees of Byjus Center and asked them how much time they were going to take to refund our money. They said, Please wait; this process takes time. Whenever we called them, they repeated the same thing: “Mam, please wait; this process takes time.” Every employee of theirs repeated this thing again and again. We waited for so many months, and now it has been an year. On November 27, 2023, we filled out the admission cancellation application, but until today, they didn’t refund our money. After a while, they all switched off their phones, blocked us, or didn’t pick up the call.
Action required:
1. Immediate cancellation of the unauthorized EMI made on my behalf without telling me.
2. Full refund of the transaction amount in alignment with Byjus Center stated refund policy. (Also money for harming my mental health and wasting this much time.)
I am deeply concerned by Byjus Center's misleading information and lack of transparency, as well as their unprofessional behavior towards their customers. This has caused both financial stress and emotional stress, and I urge the consumer court to take immediate action to ensure accountability.
