Sir,
Subject: Complaint against CSB Bank Ltd., Kochi Branch for delay in credit of matured Fixed Deposit Receipts
I, Joseph Michael, Proprietor of General Engineering and Constructions, am a current account holder with CSB Bank Ltd., Kochi Branch, IFSC – CSBK0000018.
I had taken three Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) from the said branch. The details of the FDRs are as follows:
CFD/19-3004488 dated 30.07.2022
CFD/21-3313825 dated 03.03.2023
CFD/21-3313769 dated 31.10.2022
Since the maturity period of the above FDRs had already expired and the concerned department, to which the FDRs were given as performance guarantee, had released them, I deposited the original FDRs at the branch on 21.11.2025 for closure and credit of the maturity proceeds to my current account.
However, even after thirty-three (33) days, the maturity proceeds have not been credited to my account. When I approached the Branch Manager, Mr. Joby Francis, on 24.11.2025, he informed me that it would take one more day. Despite my repeated requests and the fact that the FDRs had matured long ago, the amount has still not been released, without any valid justification.
Due to this unreasonable and unjustified delay, I have suffered financial loss and hardship. An EMI amount of ₹24,307.00 towards a RACPC loan of SBI Bank and EMI of RS 43518.00 of Axis Bank towards property loan was returned due to insufficient balance, which occurred solely because the maturity amount was not credited on time. This has also adversely affected my credit score, and I was compelled to pay additional charges towards late payment of EMI.
I have already reported the matter to CSB Bank’s Customer Care, but no resolution has been provided. Even the Nodal Officer at the Zonal Office has failed to respond, leaving me with no option but to seek the intervention of this Hon’ble Forum.
I therefore humbly request the Hon’ble Consumer Protection Forum to:
Direct CSB Bank Ltd., Kochi Branch to immediately release the maturity proceeds of my above-mentioned FDRs and credit the same to my account.
Take appropriate action against the bank for deficiency in service and undue delay.
Award me a compensation of ₹25,000/- (Rupees Twenty-Five Thousand only) for the hardship caused, loss of credit score, and additional financial burden due to delayed EMI payment.
I shall be grateful for your kind consideration and timely intervention in this matter.
