Hostel Non-refund of cancelled booking by Colive (Bangalore) despite repeated promises for over 3 months – Harassment & Deficiency of Service

I am filing this complaint against Colive Coliving Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, for non-refund of my cancelled booking amount, despite cancelling the booking before the move-in date, and despite repeated assurances over the last more than three months. The conduct of Colive amounts to deficiency of service, unfair trade practice, and mental harassment.

Reason for Cancellation

I cancelled my booking on 30 October 2025 itself, before moving in, because the room that was promised and shown to me at the time of booking was not allotted. The room that was allotted was completely different in condition and specifications, and I was extremely dissatisfied.

This was a clear case of misrepresentation and unprofessional conduct by Colive. Since I never moved in and cancelled prior to check-in, I am fully eligible for a complete refund, which has also been acknowledged by Colive through their refund breakup.

Timeline of Events & Harassment Faced
• 30 October 2025: Cancellation request raised with Colive (before move-in)
• November onwards: Multiple service tickets raised and followed up
• I was repeatedly assured on calls and in writing that the refund would be processed “within one week”
• 8 January 2026: I was specifically promised that the refund would be credited on this date — no refund received
• Throughout January 2026, I had to call customer support multiple times without resolution
• 4 February 2026: I was again assured that the refund would definitely be credited by 8 February 2026
• As of 15 February 2026, I still have not received my refund

Despite confirming internally that my refund request was approved and forwarded to the revenue team, Colive has illegally retained my money for over three months.

Deficiency of Service

Colive’s actions clearly constitute:
• Deficiency of service
• Unfair trade practice
• Mental harassment
• Failure to honor refund commitments
• Illegal retention of customer funds

I have suffered financial inconvenience and mental stress due to repeated follow-ups, false assurances, and prolonged delay for my rightful refund.

Relief Sought

I respectfully request the Honorable Consumer Forum to direct Colive to:
1. Refund ₹35,600 immediately to my original payment method
2. Pay compensation for mental harassment and inconvenience
3. Bear all legal and complaint-related costs

I am ready to submit all supporting evidence including payment receipts, cancellation confirmation, refund breakup, service tickets, and written assurances provided by Colive.
