Dear Sir,

I had trip planned for Spiti Valley Himachal Pradesh from 10th of May to 17th May. The trip involved 2 return flights from Mumbai Delhi departure on 10th May and return on 17th May from Delhi. From Delhi to Spiti travel was via Cab Services.
Due to war situation from 8th May we were skeptical about plans. Indian government had warned to avoid travel if not essential in these critical areas.
The situation got worsened on 9th May and we called Make My Trip on 9th of May to cancel our flight tickets Booking ID- NF7ADT0S30118457340 as our flight was starting on 10th May 05:55 am for Delhi from Mumbai. And the trip had road travel to spit from Delhi via Chandigarh and Chandigarh was blackout since past two days. MMT said we have instructions of Air India flights cancelled coming to Delhi till 05:00 AM and not after that, you can call us later.

It seemed riskier after reaching Delhi it can get complex as we don't know anyone there. So, we called again late-night customer care requesting for free cancellation and complete refund, they denied saying flights are operational for Delhi and it's not our lookout that you have to travel via Chandigarh, you may call Air India customer care and speak to them, we can do nothing in this. If you want you can cancel the flight ticket and you would be charged accordingly if cancelled 4 hours prior or it would be completely gone. (Flight ticket : Rs 32914, cancellation Charges : 20662, Refund : 12252.)

I somehow managed to call Air India Customer care and they also denied for free cancellation and complete refund. I asked them you are Indian Company, its war situation, the government is asking to avoid travel in these areas, and you are trying to make profits by heavy cancellations. But they were casual and didn't entertain,

Finally, I had to cancel tickets to receive some refund bearing almost 62% cancellation charges. (Flight ticket : Rs 32914, cancellation Charges : 20662, Refund : 12252.)

Its shame when we say we are proud citizen and Indian companies are making money in such situation.

Hello @Satishbagadi3004
Air India Customer care and they also denied for free cancellation and complete refund.

During Operation Sindoor in May 2025, the Indian government imposed temporary airspace restrictions, leading to the suspension of operations at 24 airports across northern and western India. • Refund Timelines: Credit card payments to be refunded within seven working days; immediate cash refunds for cash transactions at airport counters.
