I am registering a formal complaint against Swiggy Limited and their supplier PYD Retail Pvt Ltd - Shahpur for delivering a defective, Dead on Arrival (DOA) electronic product and subsequently failing to provide after-sales support.
On 25-02-2026 , I purchased a Seagate One Touch 1Tb External Hdd With Password Protection Black via the Swiggy Instamart platform. The total invoice value was Rs. 7,749.
Upon unboxing and connecting the drive to my laptop via a SuperSpeed USB port, the drive exhibited immediate signs of severe mechanical failure. It produced abnormal starting/stopping sounds and heavy vibration. Furthermore, the device fails to function entirely. Windows Device Manager reports a "Code 43: Device Descriptor Request Failed" hardware error. When checking the disk properties, the drive shows as "Not Initialized" with a total capacity of "0 MB."
I immediately contacted Swiggy Customer Support and was assigned Request Number 27650385 on February 27, 2026. The automated response promised a resolution within 24-48 hours. However, despite sending multiple follow-up emails on February 27 and March 2, Swiggy has completely ignored my requests for a replacement or refund.
Selling a non-functional hard drive and completely ignoring a customer's valid return request for a DOA product constitutes a severe deficiency in service and an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act.
Relief Sought:I demand an immediate replacement with a brand-new, sealed, and fully functional hard drive of the same make and model, OR a full refund of Rs. 7,749 credited back to my original payment method, along with compensation for the mental harassment and delay caused by the unresponsive support team.
