Dear Consumer Court,
This is Suresh Kumar Gupta Pasupula, I booked flight to Jammu (from Hyderabad) 6E-6346 for 8th May 2025. Now, I understand that Indigo changed this flight to One-stop via Delhi and will land Jammu by 13.20 i.e., almost 3 hours 20 minutes late than the original flight time. Now, I contacted them and they are ready to pay only my flight ticket fare but not ready to pay compensation because of the losses like hotel booking, cab booking, battery car bookings etc.

Hello @SURESH

I'm sorry to hear about the inconvenience you've experienced with your flight being changed from non-stop to one-stop, resulting in a delay of over 3 hours. Under the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regulations in India, passengers are entitled to certain rights and compensations in such scenarios.

🧾 Summary of Your Situation

  • Original Booking: Non-stop flight
  • Change: Altered to a one-stop flight without prior consent
  • Delay: Arrival delayed by over 3 hours

⚖️ Your Rights Under DGCA Regulations

According to the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, passengers are entitled to the following in cases of flight delays and schedule changes:
  1. Compensation for Delays:
    • If a flight is delayed by more than 2 hours, airlines must offer passengers meals and refreshments.
    • For delays exceeding 6 hours, passengers should be provided with an option of either an alternate flight within a period of 6 hours or a full refund of the ticket.
  2. Compensation Amounts Based on Block Time:
    • For flights with a block time of over 2 hours, passengers are entitled to compensation of ₹10,000 or the booked one-way basic fare plus airline fuel charge, whichever is less.
  3. Schedule Changes Without Prior Notice:
    • If an airline changes the flight schedule without informing the passenger at least two weeks in advance, and the new flight departs more than one hour earlier or later than the original time, passengers are entitled to compensation and pay the full air fare amount.
Thanks
