Complaint Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019
1. Complainant Details

Company Name: LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd.
3. Facts of the Case
The complainant purchased an LG water purifier approximately 4 years back.
The purifier was functioning normally until routine filter replacement service was done by the company technician which is to be done approximately every 3 months.
Immediately after replacement, the purifier stopped filling water even after 5 hours, which never occurred earlier.
The technician advised changing internal filter and insisted to purchase AMC (extended warranty). The complainant agreed in good faith and paid additional charges.
After service and internal filter change:
Water taste became abnormal
The complainant and family members started suffering from stomach/gut related illness
The complainant repeatedly requested replacement of filter and repair, but the technician kept delaying and no proper resolution was provided.
The complainant even contacted the company through a social media handle and they even replied but unfortunately no solution has been provided till now.
The product supplied and serviced by the company is therefore defective and hazardous to health.
4. Cause of Action
The cause of action arose in the month of January 2025 and continues till date because the company has failed to repair/replace the defective purifier despite repeated complaints.
The acts of the opposite party amount to:
Deficiency in service
Supply of defective product
Unfair trade practice
Endangering consumer health
5. Relief Sought
The complainant respectfully prays that this Hon’ble Commission may kindly direct the opposite party to:
Replace the water purifier OR refund full amount Rs 16,220/-
Refund AMC charges Rs 5300/-
Pay medical expenses Rs 5000/-
Pay compensation for mental harassment Rs 50,000
Pay litigation cost Rs 10,000
Any other relief deemed fit
