I am writing to report a serious case of credit card fraud involving my newly issued Kotak Mahindra credit card.

On the very next day after receiving my card, I received a call from a person who claimed to be from the Kotak Mahindra Helpline. His profile name, website links, and the way he presented himself made it appear completely genuine. What alarmed me is that the caller already knew all my card details, including:

Card number

CVV

Expiry date

The fact that I had just received the card the previous day

Because of this, I trusted the call, assuming it was indeed from Kotak Mahindra Bank.

He informed me about a supposed “Card Protection Plan” with a charge of ₹2,500, and said I needed to disable it to avoid being billed. He then shared a link that looked like an official Kotak Mahindra page. When I clicked the link, it redirected me to what seemed like the Kotak app and asked me to enter my OTP to disable the plan.

Once I entered the OTP, fraudulent transactions were carried out on my card, amounting to a total of ₹2,70,000.

I immediately reported the incident to the bank. However, I have been told it may take up to 90 days to resolve this issue. Given that the fraudster had exact knowledge of my card details right after issuance, I strongly suspect that my confidential information was leaked from within the bank or its partners.

This is extremely concerning as I am a first-time credit card user, and I trusted Kotak Mahindra Bank to keep my details secure.

I request urgent action on the following:

Immediate investigation into the fraudulent transactions of ₹2,70,000.

Verification of how my confidential card details were accessed by a third party.

Reversal of the fraudulent charges at the earliest.

A formal update on the progress of this complaint.

Please treat this matter with utmost priority, as I am under severe financial and emotional distress due to this incident.
