Complaint regarding unauthorized lien, mental harassment, negligence, deficiency in service and non-compliance by ICICI Bank.
Facts of the Case
I am holding a Savings Bank Account with ICICI Bank bearing Account No - 244701512837. On 27 October 2025 I received an SMS from ICICI Bank informing me that a “police notice lien” amounting to Rs 800 was marked on my account. This lien was placed without any information, justification, approval, or notice to me.
On the same day, I personally visited the Sector 62 Stellar IT Park Branch and met a staff member (Mr Sushil). Shockingly, the branch refused to assist, refused to share any details, and refused to raise any service request. The concerned staff also behaved in an unprofessional and rude manner and told me that nothing could be done and I could complain anywhere if I wanted.
I immediately sent a written email complaint to the bank on 30 October 2025 requesting the following:
Reason for lien
Copy of notice
Details of authority who ordered this lien
Immediate removal of lien
Action against the staff for negligence and rude behaviour
Till date, ICICI Bank has failed to provide any clarification, document, authority details or proper reply. The lien is still active without any legal grounds.
Cause of Action
The actions of ICICI Bank clearly amount to:
deficiency in service
negligence
unfair trade practice
failure to provide documents
non-responsiveness
violation of RBI consumer service norms
mental harassment
Loss & Harassment
The wrongful lien has caused:
mental stress
inconvenience
anxiety
fear related to misuse of my bank account
loss of time
financial disturbance
Reliefs Sought
I request the Hon’ble Consumer Forum to kindly direct ICICI Bank to:
Provide complete explanation and documents regarding the lien
Remove the lien immediately
Issue written confirmation of the removal
Take action against the concerned branch and staff
Pay compensation for mental harassment and negligence
Compensation Claimed
I request compensation of Rs. 50,000/- for mental harassment, negligence, inconvenience and delay caused by the opposite party.
