Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Decathlon regarding gross deficiency in service, which led to significant financial loss and mental agony.

Facts of the Case:
• I placed an order for winter clothes from Decathlon through their online platform intending to travel to Kedarnath.
• My order was scheduled to be delivered on or before 16th October 2025.
• Timely delivery was crucial as I had pre-booked train tickets for 17th and 18th October 2025 and required these clothes for extremely cold weather conditions at Kedarnath.
• Despite repeated follow-ups, Decathlon failed to deliver the order within the promised timeframe.
• Because of this, I was compelled to cancel my Kedarnath trip, resulting in the cancellation of my train tickets and a loss of more than ₹500 on ticket cancellation charges.
• Additionally, I had applied a first-time order discount coupon on this purchase, which will now not be available for future use due to the cancellation/refund.
Relief Sought:
I request the Consumer Forum to:
• Direct Decathlon to compensate the loss incurred due to train ticket cancellation (₹500+).
• Award suitable compensation for the mental agony and inconvenience caused by the non-delivery and cancellation of my travel plans.
• Ensure the first-order coupon benefit is reinstated or equivalent compensation is provided.
• Take necessary action to prevent such occurrences in the future and hold the company accountable for deficient service.
Evidence Enclosed:
• Copy of the Decathlon order confirmation
• Email/SMS proof of order date and delivery promise
• Proof of ticket bookings and cancellations showing losses incurred
• Screenshot/Proof of first-order coupon use
I request early redressal of my complaint.

Thanking You,
Amit Kumar

Hello @Akr

Delivery delays can occasionally happen due to circumstances beyond the control of the delivery personnel or the service provider. This is quite common in many cases:
  • Food deliveries may sometimes be delayed slightly but are usually delivered within a reasonable time.
  • E-commerce purchases may arrive 2–3 days later than the expected date, especially due to logistics issues, weather conditions, or high order volumes.
Such short delays are generally considered acceptable and fall within a reasonable time frame. However, if there is an unreasonable delay, or if the product or service is not delivered at all, you have every right to take action.

In such cases, filing a complaint with the Consumer Forum is a good idea. It ensures your rights as a consumer are protected and can help hold companies accountable.

Thanks
