I am writing to bring to your attention several concerns regarding the services provided by Club Liberty, a Delhi-based firm offering holiday packages and hotel reservations. Club Liberty appears to target new customers from Maruti Suzuki dealers, specifically those who have recently purchased a new car.
Background:

After purchasing a new Nexa car, we were approached by two representatives from Club Liberty, Javed and Sameer. They presented the benefits of Club Liberty's membership, extensively comparing it with Club Mahindra. They emphasized that, unlike Club Mahindra—which is limited to its own hotels—Club Liberty boasts a diverse collection of hotels. They showcased their hotel's portfolio and ratings on their laptop, which impressed us due to the variety and quality displayed.

Convinced by their presentation, we purchased a 3-year membership for ₹60,000, which included a total of 24 nights' stay. We were informed that an additional ₹10,500 would be required after every six-night booking. We signed the membership form and requested a copy for our records. They assured us that it would be sent via post or email; however, we never received it till today.

Issues Faced:

Booking Difficulties and Subpar Accommodations:

In September, we attempted to book a vacation for November. After prolonged email communications, we finally settled on a hotel in Lonavala, as they were unwilling to offer better options in Lonavala or Mahabaleshwar.

We paid ₹10,500 for the first six-night package. Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet our expectations, and the booking process was stressful due to limited and unsatisfactory hotel choices.

Unjustified Additional Charges:

Club Liberty imposed extra breakfast charges ranging from ₹450 to ₹3,000 per person per day. We declined these charges for our first booking, yet they insisted we pay them for subsequent bookings.

Notably, during our first stay, the hotel provided complimentary breakfast despite us not paying the additional fees. This suggests that the extra charges were not genuinely for breakfast but possibly an unjust means to increase profits.

Consistent Lack of Quality Options:

Subsequent attempts to book vacations in Kerala, Gujarat, or Mahabaleshwar were met with increased pressure to pay breakfast charges, without any improvement in hotel selections.

When requesting bookings, Club Liberty consistently offers hotels priced below ₹4,250 per night, which is the average cost per night based on our total investment. For example, the options provided for 8–10 February 2025 in Mahabaleshwar were all hotels that, according to online platforms like MakeMyTrip (MMT), cost less than ₹4,250 per night.

Questionable Availability of Promised Hotels:

Despite advertising premium hotels like Brightland Resort, Club Liberty claims these are unavailable when we attempt to book.

Upon contacting Brightland Resort directly, we discovered that they have no partnership with Club Liberty and advised us to book through reputable sites like MMT or Goibibo.

Financial Observations:

Total Payments Made and Expected:

Membership Fee: ₹60,000

First Six-Night Booking: ₹10,500 (with two nights still pending)

Expected Total for 24 Nights (excluding breakfast charges): ₹1,02,000

Effective Cost Per Night: Approximately ₹4,250

Discrepancy in Value Received:

The accommodations offered do not align with the value implied by the cost per night based on our investment.

Comparable or better hotels are available at similar or lower prices on standard booking platforms, undermining the purported benefits of the membership.

Conclusion:

Based on these experiences, it appears that Club Liberty may be engaging in deceptive practices:

Misrepresentation of Services: Advertising a wide range of quality hotels that are not actually available to members.

Lack of Transparency: Failure to provide a copy of the signed membership agreement.

Unjustified Charges: Imposing additional fees that do not correspond with actual services provided.

Inconsistent Quality: Offering accommodations that do not reflect the investment made through the membership.

I Encourage an investigation into Club Liberty's business practices to ensure they are compliant with consumer protection laws.

Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. We are hopeful for a prompt and fair resolution.
